This is my BC marans, about 19 weeks old, now. It developed a comb and wattles before my Cuckoo marans, which I know is a pullet. But, it doesnt have any copper on its back and it doesn't look like it is getting saddle feathers (my australorp pullett actully has more saddling than the BC). Do some BC pullets develop their comb and waddles this early? Also, I have seen no "cockerel" behavior, like chest bumping or attempting to crow.

I could be waaaayyyy wrong here, but that looks like a pullet to me.

The only thing that had me worrying was the early developing comb and waddle, but I guess she is just an early bloomer

She (I'm gonna call her that until I hear a crow) is bigger than the cuckoo, but I also got her from a local breeder, and the cuckoo came from the feed store. Unless there is food involved, she is quite shy.

The BC Maran pullets don't get the saddle feathers. You have pullets. The roos will have the saddle feathers and the long copper feathers coming from the neck.

Here are my French BC Marans around the same age.

Here they are about 23 weeks. They are roosters. A hen might be in the mix.

My Marans are a very nice bird. They aren't very combative. Much calmer then my other chickens.

You have a pullet and at 19 weeks...you should/could be getting an egg pretty soon!!!!!!!!

I have 4 BCM that I have no clue as to what they are. I have one that has the feathers on its feet and two spots on the back of its eyes the spots is brown. He is way bigger then the others and looks kinda ruff around the edges. please help I will try to get a pic of him/her.
