Black Copper Marans x Barred Rocks

Hey,

I crossed my barred rock male over my two copper marans. I now have 11 hens and 1 rooster out of the cross and i was wondering will the egg color be just a brown color or will it be a dark color like the maran's eggs. The hens look just like a really dark barred rock hen and have very little fethering on their legs. While the rooster looks more like a black copper maran with barring insted of just black. I was wondering if the hens egg color is not that dark is there any way to make the next generation have a darker egg color.

The egg color will be a little darker than a BR, not super dark.

If you want dark egg color, why don't you buy a nice Black Copper rooster and breed him to your Marans hens? That would be the easiest way. Good luck!
