My Welsummer girl lays eggs about as dark as some of the BCM eggs I've seen. If someone just wants dark eggs in their cartons, Welsummers are easier to come by.

Thanks to all who have responded. I too understand it better now. It's too bad it always boils down to money though. It would be great if more people were truly interested in perfecting a breed instead of making a fast buck. Maybe thats where it is helpful to belong to a specific breeders club, at least there everyone has the same goals in mind.
