Black Copper Marans

I bought 16 BCM hatching eggs from a guy our Kansas who said his BCM were from the B. Davis line. None of them have any kind of bump. I did however have one from the first hatch (only 2 out of 8 eggs hatched) that is not BCM, he said they sometimes through a Wheaton, I don't know if this is true or not, seems they would have to be crossed with a Wheaton. I got 3 out of 8 on the last hatch. That are all BCM with feathered legss.

yeah, i emailed Bev & gave her the info & pics
this guy we got them from is a TOTAL SCAMMER, Bev said these girls are NO WAY from her line. oh well, i got them for pets anyway...i just hope they lay good colored eggs

Neither one of those birds looks like BCM to me. The lighter one is wheaton and the other looks like a mix of bcm and something else. Sorry you got scammed. I hope they throw some nice eggs for you. Otherwise they are beautiful birds.

Hi ya'll just thought i'd put in my 2 cents if you don't mind. I have bcm's also and some other chickens and i've never seen that bump on any of my chickens. My line orginated from Wade Jeane/Channing Grishim line sold to me by way of Jessie Bryant. I am a member of Marans of America and was told by someone high up that this line does carry a Wheaton gene and some of my marans have thrown a few Wheatons not alot just a few. Was told they are to be consider Wheatons. I have all my chickens separated by breed and am trying to better the breed. I have decided to keep my wheatons and see what happens. But i have to agree that those chickens look like a mix.
My chickens are on my web page chickenschickens.com if you want to see them. I hope I haven't stepped on any toes and apologize if I have.
