Hi, I am thinking of getting a black copper maran rooster and a couple hens. I have read that they are not real broody; do those of you that have this breed find that to be true? I am not interested in incubating or showing. Will I get some babies out of this deal?

My marans went broody

They were the perfect breed in my opinion, One of my favorite breeds.
Meat,
Eggs,
Friendly,
Showable,
Great moms & egg setters

I have two BCM's, about 15 months old (hens)--very nice birds and beautiful eggs...but both of them have been broody first one, then a month later the other...and I don't have a roo! So in my limited experience I would consider them broodier, much more than most of the other girls. Good luck, I think you'll enjoy them.

We only have 3 FBCM hens and they all wanted to go broody at once! Finally had to break one because they needed to be separated and we didn't have the room. They were all about 11 months old. I am curious to find out if they will be broody each year.

thanks that makes me feel better because I know nothing about incubating!!
