black copper vs. wheaten marans...more questions, they hatched!

Interesting about the egg color skipping a generation. All of my breeding hens came from the darkest eggs I had. Nice colors,at least 5 on the chart. All but 2 of my hens lay a 5-6 on the chart. Those 2 started with a 4,but I can see them gradually becoming a little darker.I have not included those eggs in any I've shipped(except as extra extras),but it's quite possible that chicks hatch from these eggs could lay darker eggs?

Well I figured that it was just my luck that all the ones with problems hatching were coppers. I was just curious if it was coincidence or if there generaly were more problems with coppers.

I am on Bevs list for a doz coppers but it will be awhile its pretty long.

I am glad I did get at least one healthy blk copper and of course my little copper with deformed toes. he is so cute I think I just feel sorry for him. the others kept picking on him and literaly was pulling him around the brooder by his toes! So I put him in with the silkies and he is fitting right in with them. Who said sillkies are evil??..lol.

by the way I had a blue splash orp hatch this am too!! hopefully a few more hatch but there was only 4 of them. Hope I get a pair.

Yes, I just have the cuckoos right now. I don't have enough pens for more breeds, lol, but would love to try some other types. I do have both clean and feather shank, housed separtely. I would definately be interested in a swap.
