Black crest?

We have a young black hen she is definitely mixed but with a white barred rock roo and dominique hen. This mixing in an earlier clutch produced a hen that took on traits you would expect of a barred and dominique. This new little girl is still nearly solid black including her crest. Does anyone believe this to be odd for her breed mixes? Would you expect her to outgrow this or could it remain black even with both sets of genes having a red crest?

Are you speaking of a feathered crest or a comb? If a comb, given the breeds described her comb should become more red as she matures. If there is a silky in the mix, it may stay a purplish black color.
