New chicken owner. On advice I stopped putting Probiotics in the water. Couple of weeks later black dots are appearing on combs and waddles of two hens.

Any advice would be appreciated.

It does look like fowl pox or pecks, just hard ro tell which for sure. Fowl pox is a virus carried by mosquitoes, and it lasts about 3 weeks. Most chickens do survive without any treatment. Do not disturb the scabs since that can spread the pox to other birds. Here is some reading:

You wouldn’t need antibiotics for either fowl pox or peck wounds. Pox is a virus, and it won’t respond to an antibiotic. Sometimes if they get scabs around the eyes, you can use some Terramycin eye ointment or Plain Neosporin.
