Black flakes in layer feed?

That's more of a fine white powder though.

Are the flat sides glassy?
If it burns, & stinks like tar it probably is asphalt. It doesn't really smell unless heated.

I don’t know if all of them have a flat side or not but the ones that do are a little bit shiny on the sides that are flat.

I would return the bag where you got it from and not feed any more to your flock. They should explain how that might have happened and what it is. Either way they should give you a new bag. Good luck, it surely does not look normal in any feed I have ever seen.

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking too. I just emailed the mill so hopefully I’ll have some answers by tomorrow morning.
The place looked kind of sketchy when I was there but their website says that they’re certified organic.

I just sent them an email about an hour ago asking about the feed. I sent them pictures as well
