The chunks are black, though. They can test it out too be sure.The mineral parts are often dark grayish.
I don’t know if all of them have a flat side or not but the ones that do are a little bit shiny on the sides that are flat.Are the flat sides glassy?
If it burns, & stinks like tar it probably is asphalt. It doesn't really smell unless heated.
Yeah that’s what I’m thinking too. I just emailed the mill so hopefully I’ll have some answers by tomorrow morning.I would return the bag where you got it from and not feed any more to your flock. They should explain how that might have happened and what it is. Either way they should give you a new bag. Good luck, it surely does not look normal in any feed I have ever seen.
