i noticed today that i think it might be 1 of the roosters doing it that there are some piles of black runny looking poop. it's not smelling at all so i'm still not sure if it would be cecal poop and i'm not sure if a rooster would do cecal poop. well all our chickens go in and our of their coop into the run area freely. we have the run area fenced in so they only have a designated area to go in. we feed all the chickens right now layers crumbles and soldier worms. a couple days ago, we thru some spinach and lettuce in with the chickens as an extra treat for them. everything looked fine that day and even the next day. they still get some that fall thru the rabbit cage, but in small pieces as well as carrots. this black runny poop didn't show up till today. they have access to grass and dirt all the time. my husband was thinking it's from the heat. everyone looks fine and is acting normal. it's been really hot for us for a few days now.

Blurry. It looks green.

Feeding spinach, & Lettace will give green soft stools.

earlier today i saw black runny piles, but when i went out to get pictures all i saw was that green pile. the others were black black. i couldn't find any of those piles to get pictures of them so i don't know what happened to those black piles. also i've seen normal solid poop from them before today. why is it that it's happening today now?

Green can look black if mixed with dirt, also.

I wouldn't be concerned right now unless there's an obvious red tinge to the black poop.

Are there any ripe mulberries or blackberries that the chickens could have eaten?
Those can certainly cause black runny poop, but it's not a problem if that is the cause.
none at all. in the run area and along the fencing is grass, weeds, and along the fencing are a few dandelions. no berries at all.

there's no red tinge at all to any of the piles i saw earlier and obviously to the 1 i just took the picture of.
