About 4 mos old. Came in a rare breed mix. Black with Green shine, yellow on feet. No pea comb so I was originally thinking Black Sumatra but I read they have pea combs. Any help appreciated!
thanks.

I know comb and waddle color is off but could it be a black australorp? They have a green shine and are black. Curious what others suggest 😊

The plot thickens. I know we talked about Sumatra, Andalusian, and maybe Orpington. With all the black on the comb, I'm still stumped.

Doesn't have the thin body style of the Andalusian either. I've seen Sumatras with dark combs but that doesn't look like a pea comb to me either.

I don't think Meyer does Cemanis. They do include Jersey Giants in rare assortments so I guess that's a possibility.

Very pretty bird, regardless.

Is it possible it might still be a Sumatra just with the wrong comb type? I know hatchery birds aren’t usually the best quality to begin with so you may get birds with the wrong comb type or other issues. It’s not uncommon.

I know I have some birds from a different hatchery and the breed is supposed to have beards/muffs and crests on the head. One is completely clean faced with no muffs or beard or anything. And while they do all have crests, one is very tiny and others have huge ones. And another breed I have has feathered feet but one has one foot only half feathered.

So quality can very greatly.

I don’t mind at all and love my birds but just wanted to point out that small flaws may not necessarily mean it’s not that breed.

Seems very possible. Not sure it fits perfectly into any one breed but still a good looking bird. Sumatra seems closest, I guess?

Our rares from Meyer included a Barnevelder with poor lacing, a GLW with way too much gold, etc. I think they do better than some hatcheries but clearly these things happen.

Yeah I think it would make sense with the black comb too because I don’t really know of many breeds that have it besides Ayam which I don’t think they carry and Silkie which she’s def not lol

I have gotten a lot of birds from Meyer and I love them but yes def not perfect!! My BOs were/are pretty runty 😂🤣
