That one is indeed a cockerel.I have the same question. I paid the hatchery extra to sex the chickens because I am not allowed to have roosters in the city limits. I received four. Here is a picture of two of them. Do you think that the near one is a cockerel? Sure looks like it to me. These birds are about 8 weeks old.

Thank you. They seem to be healthy to me, but I’m not always sure how bright they are!10 to 1 ratio is ideal for breeding. Pet flocks don't need that ratio. A male can over-mate a favorite hen causing feather damage and even blood. Hopefully your male will spread the love around. Your flock looks bright and healthy. They should be fine.
