I have an approximately 10 month old black Jersey Giant rooster who is needing a new home. He is a big boy, good to his hens....doesn't chase down the uninterested girls, he clucks and dances and if they squat he goes for it, if not he lets them run off. He is overprotective and will flog any stranger that enters the yard and crows whenever anything "new" is happening. Is great to my younger chicks and will tolerate juvenile roos.....he actually was just knocked down a notch by the old bottom roo (now top roo)....I had 3 adult rooster for a while and he would keep the other in line but they all lived in harmony.

His toes are crooked and his comb is weird, so I would not use him for breeding pure Jersey Giants....however I used him to create some neat crosses (white leghorn/giant and rir/giant) and their toes are all normal. His offspring have been hardy and healthy and the RIR cross cockerels made great meat birds and the girls should make great layers. He is a bit big for my mediteranean hens but is gentle enough to make it work. I have recently begun using saddles because of my RIR roo, not my JG roo.

My flock ranges in a fenced half acre during the day, going to a very secure coop(shed) at night. He would be great for a similar situation, or in a pen or more free range. He is good at taking care of his girls. I used to keep him penned up and he was fine for that too.

Will drive to meet a reasonable distance. Will not ship. Am rehoming him as I am adding a bunch of bantams and he is WAY too big for them.

Price is negotiable, just don't want him to be someone's dinner.
