I am thinking of getting some Jersey Giants but don't know too much about the breed other than can get quite large! Any feedback out there on these beauties???

Our Jersey's were very skiddish as young chicks but as soon as they found out that humans come with treats, well, they are the most tame birds we have now. If you're not careful there is one pullet that very much enjoys jumping on your shoulder or head for attention!

I got a roo mixed in with my 10 pullets but he is so pretty with his black/beetle green feathers that he is one of the three roo's I'm keeping.

As far as size they are not larger than my Marans, but maybe they grow slower?

Very calm birds but the roo is stand-offish and so far not the dominant roo.

14 weeks (photo was just taken a couple hours ago)

I have six black giants and I just love them.

I wound up with four roos and all of them are huge. I am rehoming three of the roos soon because I only need one. My brother in law is taking them. I remember reading somewhere that they are slow growing and because of that the feed ration is not good. I don't care about that at all. The hens lay the biggest eggs I have ever seen. My roos sound like elephants trying to crow. It's hilarious.

I have 20 Jersey giants in my Brooder I have no Idea what they are. Cockerels or Pullets but I hatched them out and they are as everyone says "very skittish" they forget this when it is time to eat. I really enjoy watching them they have enormous feet and legs and walk all over everything. The twenty Chicks are 3 weeks old and are drinking a gallon of water a day. I am going to put another gallon waterer in their pen tomorrow because today they emptied the one and turned it over. I am curious to see how this all shakes out and what they are going to be like when they are grown. I have 11 blacks 8 blues and one splash.

Mine see me coming and they get so excited. They're such friendly birds as they get older. They grow out of the skittishness.

lunkerchicken - I think you have made a great choice.

Aww! They are so adorable.

They look to be about twice the size of your barred rocks and at least as big as your ducks. Amazing and beautiful!
