Wow! Absolutely WOW! I mean WOW, WOW ,WOW!!!!Speaking of electric bills. California is.50269 per kw off peak and peak is .62569 per kw. I would love to get off the grid and away from the electric company but that's probably a few more years away.
Very nice.Good morning. Big day here. We augered 12 holes for 6x6 posts for the three sided garden shed. It has grown to 16x24 as boards sizes made it easier to deal with 16 width rather than 12 and increased the cost around $500. I had to convince my husband that we will never regret more space. So, today laminate 2x6s for posts and hopefully get them planted before any more rains come.
On top of that I have two heavily loaded Blue Dream that need chopped, anyone who trims knows I have a day of work ahead with arthritic hands.
And bread day. I grind our own grains and use my solar oven every chance I get. Einkorn bread loaf and I will make a batch of flour tortillas.
I plant my garden a bit later than most people so everything is at a nice marinating growth now. I just wish all my beans and black eyed peas would mature enough for a mess to cook. But I know they will come on fast. And I am craving my white bitter melons. They are pea sized now.
At night we love to make a little fire and roast marshmellows. I swear we are like two college kids around here.View attachment 4188996View attachment 4188998
Crush your eggshells and put in a pitcher of water, add a splash of vinegar to break down the calcium out of the shells faster. Let sit a little bit and water around the soil. Safe for animals.Yeah, I think that’s it and I have to amend the soil, but in the meantime, there’s a quick fix. Apparently I can spray them with calcium chloride.(or calcium nitrate but that’s not the best choice if there’s already a lot of nitrates in the soil, which there is because my compost is made from a lot of chicken poop mixed in with vegetables and straw and etc and it did have a good six months to breakdown but still probably high in nitrates) There are products on the market. I am trying to find out though, if it’s safe around the geese because the vines are strolling into the geese area. View attachment 4188627
Yay for Arkansas! So wonderful when you hear of a state that's really looking out for their citizens.I got lucky because the Arkansas state legislature passed a law requiring the electric companies to pay citizens the exact same cost for net-metered electricity as they charge consumers. Of course, the electric companies pitched a fit but the bill passed anyway. I'm betting they are still lobbying to get it overturned or rescinded but for now... It has allowed me to avoid paying ANY money to them at all. They simply "bank" my total kW and then deduct our usage from it. We always produce way more than we use... After 2 years of banking those totals, they are required to zero it out and send me a big fat check.
That's the Amish market at that address, so it is the same place you're talking about for buying bulk?
