What did you do in the garden today?

Grew garden huckleberries this year. Have 3 gallon bags full of the berries so far and they're still producing. They made a great fruit crumble, jam was ok (think it would be better with some other fruit mixed in) Made a Chinese plum sauce last night with half plums and half huckleberries and it was to die for! Brought an extra depth to my regular recipe that I didn't know it needed. Pork roast is on the counter thawing now. Pork with plum sauce for dinner tonight, yum. Those huckleberries have earned A permanent planting in my garden when I can make dinners and desserts from them.

Crush your eggshells and put in a pitcher of water, add a splash of vinegar to break down the calcium out of the shells faster. Let sit a little bit and water around the soil. Safe for animals.
Thanks and heads up anyone considering using calcium chloride spray on the leaves of a plant that is in the area where you have poultry or waterfowl I found out by researching -don’t do it. It’s toxic to them. I was looking at a product called rot stop but I’m not going to get it.

I don't own a cell phone for easy pictures in the garden, sorry to not be helpful. I can tell you they grow just like tomatoes but don't vine out as much. Still can get very unruly so next year I will space them a little farther apart than seed packet recommended, just so I can harvest a little easier around them.
This was my first year growing them, an experiment. They don't taste good right off the bush. If you grow them just take my word for it, and don't taste them raw. Yuck! But if one plant can make multiple meals, its a keeper for my garden. Trying garlic meatballs in that huckleberry/plum sauce next, served with rice poblanos and carrots. Betting those flavors will meld well.

So what? They’re paying you the equivalent of what their average costs are per KwH? Appears to be rape and pillage taking place on that left coast.
Pretty much. What's funny is that our net metering is better than what you can get here now. We're what's called NEM 2.0. now it's NEM 3.0 for new installs and they get even less, making it so you need to install a battery system when you install solar. Not that people are going to want to without the rebates. Makes it much more costly already.

If I could have fit more panels on our roof, I would have. We have 29 panels. Most of them are on the West side of our roof. So we generate more in the late afternoon when it's hot.

Speaking of electric bills. California is.50269 per kw off peak and peak is .62569 per kw. I would love to get off the grid and away from the electric company but that's probably a few more years away.
We have PG&E but our rate isn't that high. We have time of use, we're on the 4pm to 9pm one.

I just looked at our rates. Off peak is 37¢/kWh
Peak tier 1 is 43¢/kWh.
It went up in June.

I have pge also but they are charging me far to much. I would love to have the money for batteries to get off grid and tell them where to go.
