I'm looking for a source for heirloom Black Knight carrots. Already searched all of the known heirloom seed companies with NO luck. Would rather not use ebay or sources like that as there is no telling what I'm actually getting or who from. Anyone else ever grown them or know of a reliable source for them? They are literally a very old variety from Persia, purple black throughout when grown. They have a white core when young with an outer layer of purple black. Have heard they are available in Japan and Australia but no luck finding them on the internet.

I'm a member of the Seed Saver's Exchange and I checked their yearbook with no results

I did find a Black Knight beet, but I'm guessing that's not what you're looking for, ha. If you do find good seed, you can send it on to the SSE and they'll add it to their preservation program.

I found some on ebay from Turkey that I'm going to give a try. I also found a source in England but I have to obtain an import permit before I can buy from them. Who knew? If they are truly the variety I want and I am able to get them to seed I will be sure to share on seed savers exchange. I've seen other people try them but they were in Michigan and couldn't get the carrots to bloom their second year and produce seed. Since I'm quite a bit south of that, I'm hoping I will have better luck. I'm also going to go forward with the import permit because there are some other things I want to get from the dealer in England that I can't find here.
