16 month old, PURE BRED, Black/Lavender Split Ameraucana Rooster. He was purchased 1 year ago at the age of 4 months from a fellow local member of BYC. He has been our flocks' rooster for the past year and free ranges on our 5 acres of land with our 10 hens of various breeds. My chickens are put in their coop/run and locked up every evening, and he makes sure his "girls" go in first, are accounted for, and follows last. He is gentle, and has been handled by me and my family with no incidents. Recently he has been protecting his flock from a neighbors' rooster that they have decided to free range, that keeps coming on our property. I will be replacing him with a young rooster I hatched this Spring that has a silkied gene. I have hatched approximately 30 chicks that he has fathered, and not one of the eggs I sat in the incubator has bee infertile. He makes very pretty babies. He is available for local pick up only, it it too hot to do any shipping right now, and besides I wouldn't want him to get stressed and have to go through all that. My chickens are spoiled rotten, and he will only go to a home where he will be treated the same as he is here. I am only asking for $10.00, which is what I paid for him a year ago. If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me. Thanks for looking! Theresa/Sunnydale Farm, Beech Bluff, TN (West TN, 70 miles NE of Memphis, just South of Jackson)

we have a rooster of this breed, and I would like to add...these are thee best roosters. ours is so mild and sweet, he has never minded us being in the coop or holding the girls. yet, he takes care of the flock wonderfully. I would encourage anyone to give this rooster a try!

He's a beaut!

Thanks so much, I think he's handsome, but of course I might be a little prejudice! LOL He's such a sweetheart.

I was trying to come up with the right words to describe Castle, and you said it beautifully.
