We have a 2 year old Black Maran hen that has been a reliable layer. Today we noticed that she has an enlarged abdomen. I thought it was fluid. I tried to tap it, but there was no fluid on either side. Abdomen does not appear as "squishy" as most fluid filled cavities... It feels like it has some integrity. She is acting fine, eating well, drinking water. She is not walking funny. She has an egg in utero (verified by palpation). But we don't think it's bound (she lays every other day or so). Help. Any ideas?
