Okay, so black is dominant, and mottling is recessive. So theoretically, all the F1 chicks would be black/partridge x and each should have a gene for mottling. I have 2 young cockerels that are black mottled, hatched from my black mottleds, so I know they are pure for mottled.
So since the mother should be pure for partridge, and the father is pure for black mottled, the chicks would all look black, but carry a partridge gene and a mottling gene, correct? So breeding F2 together should result in some black, some partridge, some black mottled, and some partridge mottled, is that right??
So it wouldn't technically be 'mixed colors', they would be a project?
That's what I was hoping for!! So then how would I continue to work on the partridge mottled? Hope like heck that I get a partridge mottled pullet and cockerel, then put them together?
