I have tried to get my chickens to eat BOSS for ages and they won't touch it. How are they supposed to eat it when they can't taste it because of the shell? I mix it with scratch and throw it on the ground. All that happens is it sprouts and I've got sunflowers coming up all over the chicken yard. I must have weird chickens, LOL

You must have weird ones lol
I just give them whole to my chickens and they eat them up. The chickens won't even eat the sprouting sunflowers?

Mine do the same thing! Just last night I tried to give them BOSS and all they did was run to it, then look at it!

Then they were looking for something else in my hands, of course I had nothing but BOSS, we ran out of scratch yesterday - they were not happy. I think they're having withdrawls from their crack... I mean scratch!

I have the same problem! I even mixed it in with their scratch and they pick around it! Well, at least the mice in the coop are eating good!

Could it be possible the seed has gone rancid? My wild songbirds would not eat the BOSS out of the feeder one year, and I found that it had a rancid oil smell. When I replaced it with fresh, they went through it like crazy. Just a thought.

There are many things that chickens are supposed to love to eat that mine won't touch. But they do eat BOSS. They have a clear preference for scratch, though and they give me the sideways glance when I substitute BOSS instead...
