Sunflower seeds- shell or no shell?

Even the wild birds that can't eat the shell, will still be fine because they can shell it themselves. After all, nobody shells it for them in nature!
Yes, I have observed birds shelling seeds many times. I always buy the sunflower seeds for the wild birds in wintertime, but this is the first time I bought the seeds for both the wild birds and my flock, too. :D
