The black hen in back is vivian. I had been trying to figure out her breed, but gave up cause i couldn't find any breeds that fit. The chicks i got from tractor supply were simply labled bantams. Vivian is the only one i didn't know. I was scrolling thru cackle hatchey bantam chickens the other day and i saw a black oegb and thought vivian looked like she may be one. As a chick she had a pure white under belly and pure black everywhere else. Her comb and waddles were pure black until september. when she came out of a brood i noticed that she had a slight red tint to them and they've progessivly gotten redder. Her skin is a light grey under her feathers. Her feet and legs are black. Her eggs look just like my red pyle oegb eggs. She is a very spirited chicken and always moving. Getting a picture of her was tough. This picture is the best one i was able to get of her. Front left is my red pyle oegb, little hen. and front right is 18 week old nugget. she is half what ever vivian is and half red pyle oegb. So vivian has to have a light color recessive trait to be able to have a light colored chick since black is a dominant color from what i understand.

I don't think she could be anything other than a black OEG unless she is a mix. She doesn't have white earlobes, so that rules out Dutch bantam and all Mediterranean breeds. Her tail is off for an OEG, too long and held too high, like a Japanese or Serama, but otherwise it all fits just fine with OEG. You could check the bottoms of her feet next time you hold her and see if they are whitish or yellowish and that would narrow it down further.

Thank you :) I've seen birds in this thread that look exactly like vivian and I've seen ayam cemani and another black chicken breed recommended (i don't remember the name of the second breed) i researched them and it didn't fit vivian. But seeing that black oegb picture got me thinking about finding vivians breed again.

As a chick she had white tipped toes and the pads if her feet were paler, they darkened up as she got older. I think her pads are a pale grey now. Definatley not yellow tinted. If i can get the vivian baby pictures off my phone i will post them up.
