My black rosecomb Brianna decided to go broody a week after I got her from a BYC member. She started laying eggs, and I decided to let her set on them even though they weren't fertile. I put two fertile silkie eggs under her so she could hatch those two out.
Lo and behold, these chicks start hatching out at day 19! And my 4 month old lavender silkie rooster HAS to be the father! (Unless she was mated without me seeing while she was free-ranging.)
The chicks are pure black, with black skin, five toes, and feathered feet. So far she has five chicks. I will post pictures tomorrow!
