Ok so I have been brain storming on the idea of making a barred EE, like making a Cuckoo/Crele EE. Ok so all I have on hand is a Black Sex-link rooster. Though he's not old enough to be involved with this experiment yet. I was wanting to know if his barring gene would be dominate or if I should use a bird known for great barring like Barred Rocks, Doms, or Cuckoo Marans ect. The only reason I chose him was because he was the only thing available at the time the idea hit me. ( I have an EE roo with partial barring in his chest that skips his babies so I decided he wouldn't work. )
The only reason I ask this is because I've been told and have read that sex-links don't breed true. So is there a chance he'll throw white and barred genes or will he only throw barred or white genes?
I've tried the color generators but they confuse me since they aren't in complete english. Pregnancy has ruined my brain. Haha. But anyways, if a sex-link rooster won't work would a barred rock or some other barred bird work?
