Black Sex Link ~~~Dixie or Donald~~~

you have pullets, if it were a rooster it would be barred like a barred rock.
I hatched out some chicks from my barred rock hens crossed with my American game rooster that is black breasted red.
The chicks are in color roos- barred, pullets- black with red hackle feathers.
I like my black stars great hens.

Those of you with black sex links: Are their combs sometimes a little black? I just got a black sex link pullet at the feed store, and her comb has some black on it. She's still young, but since she's new and in quarantine, I am trying to be extra careful about signs of disease. Is it common for them to have some black on their healthy combs or should she have an all red or pink comb if she's healthy?

They have black legs, well mine does, I wouldn't doubt that some would have some of the same pigment on the comb.

My black star is about the same age as yours in the pic but mine is fugly, she needs some feathers.

My BSL's don't have black legs or combs. They have been yellow since I got them at 1 day old. I might be a little concerned about the black in the combs, but I don't really know much

Thanks for the thought. Mine has black legs, which is why I was hoping it was just a coloring thing--and not an illness thing. Anyone else with black-legged black sex links with black on the comb?
