I would appreciate input on this ..my husband thinks I'm over reacting...but we have 3 Wyndots and 3 Black sex links that currently share a coop...one of favorite one is a very colorful (red neck feathers...black feathers with a green tint) black sex link...last few weeks she has been sitting alone in the coop watching the others...her coloring looks good...eyes clear...feathers look shiny...poop looks like rest ...we recently added a run to the coop to give them more room...we let them free range several times a day... can't just let go all day because we have foxes and Coyotes...eagles etc in our area...I literally picked her up held her a little... talking to her gently and stroking her feathers and put her down to do some free range ..she eats and hangs out with the others...we have 16 total chickens but have separate coops (another story) ...the other girls that are with her in her coop tends to stay down below and in the run pretty much 90% of the time other then when laying their eggs in the laying boxes....is it normal for birds to be independent . She's about 8 months old like the other 5

I guess I’m not understanding the concerning behavior—is it that she doesn’t hang out with the others or is she sitting in the coop all day?
Practically sitting in the coop all day...she can peer out and watch the others...I do see her down eating and walking with rest in the morning and when I give them scratch feed and fresh cut grass and change out their water and fill their pellet feed ...when I let them out a few times throughout the day I have caught the other chickens from the other coop (Red Rhode Island) got on top of her and pecked at her several times...I separated them and watched carefully after that...I understand they have a pecking order but I can't tolerate them taking chunks out of one another ...at least that is what it looked like to me. They are two weeks younger than the other two breeds. My Silver Wyndots are now protecting them from the other two breeds ...quiet the battle the other day...the black sexlink and wyndot against barrocks that was picking on the sexlink. Like I said she seems to be isolating herself from the others...maybe I shouldn't pay attention to her as much...maybe their jealous?
