black sex links how dark of a brown are there eggs

i have 2 black sex links around 18 weeks old. today i got a real dark brown egg in the nestbox and never gotten any like that from my other birds . so was wondering if it was from one of the sexlinks. one of the sexlinks has devolped more of a comb and wattles than the other.

They can vary, honestly. I've seen some sex links lay very pale eggs, and some lay a decent dark brown egg.

If someone is wondering if they're actually Black Copper Marans (dark egg layers with similar coloring) - the chances are very slim

I can always tell my black sexlinks' eggs because they are consistently darker than my other layers. However, they don't qualify as "chocolate" colored - but still decently dark.

I'd guess the shades can vary a lot.

My black sex link that just started laying lays a very pale, cream colored egg.

alot depends on the parents. They can go from light brown to very dark.
