black sexlink girl? please help. i'm so confused.

Please forgive me while i continue to straighten out my understanding of my black sexlink breeding potential.

Sometimes i'm just not sure i'm getting it.

I have a RIR rooster, who should be the only male who could've fertilized the eggs that are hatching right now.

My females are RIR, BO, and BR.

So i assume that any black chick i get is a product of a BR.

Someone here told me that they will be black sexlinks and that the female chicks would be solid black, and the males would have a white area on the head.

Yesterday, a black baby hatched, who is solid black with reddish spots on her face (i'm guessing her?).

What should i make of this?

Do i have my information straight?

I had one of those pop out of my sex link pen as well BR and RIW hens..I questioned momma hens on their loyalty to the RIR roo and they just gave me the "look" I didn't have any roos in the surrounding areas either...turns out she's a beautiful sex link pullet with lots of color-some of my sex link hens look solid black until you part some chest feathers.
You won't get sex links from your BO but they should be a lighter red than the RIR

So, can i conclude that if there's a white spot on the head, it's a boy? And if there isn't, it's a girl? And not to worry too much about other shading etc?

Will she continue to be solid black (with red shading in this case) as she grows? Or will she get some barring? I don't know what to expect.

I think the additional coloring was throwing me off.

Hopefully all this will be less of a mystery to me soon.
