My black shoulder peacock and my silver pied peahen hatched an egg. The chick looks like an India Blue chick... is that possible, can someone explain me the genetics of their mating?
Thanks

Yes the chick should be India blue split to blackshoulder, and could be split pied, white and white eye I think, Does the chick have any white flight feathers? BS to any type hen but BS will give you and IB split BS being your hen was a IB SP the hen has to have at least one white and one pied gene plus the white eyed gene that is why I say it could be split to those also. If I am not correct I hope some one will correct me. I am still trying to figure out all the genetic make up of some of these birds

Snowshoe has it pretty much right. You should have a White eyed (single copy) Indian blue peachick that carries one copy (split to) of the black shoulder gene and one copy (split to) of either a white gene or a pied gene. The single copy white eyed gene will express itself with only some white eyes in a males train, and usually a slight frosting effect on a hen which may or may not be noticeable.
