I bred a splash silkie hen to a white silkie rooster and I got four black babies. Can anyone tell me why?

This is a complete guess cause I am by far not a silkie expert...just what I've been learning through reading...

Splash silkies have black in their makeup, white masks all colors so, a white bird can throw any color. So, breeding them together brought out the black from the splash and the masked black from the white. If you want more splash chicks, breed back to splash or black.

I had read something about the coloring somewhere too but with all the sites and everything I have read I couldn't find it anywhere in my bookmarks or what I have copied and saved.. Thank you very much.. I hope I can remember that..

I know what you mean, I read so much that I have no clue half the time where I've found my information. I do know that in order to get splash chicks, you need to breed splash to splash or splash to black. When chicks hatch, you can get blue, black or splash. They do not breed true.
