Black Snake

I found this black kingsnake checking out the hen house. I guess it was looking for eggs, but my chickens are only 3 months old. I grabbed it with some plyers, but it took off and I was left holding its tail. I don't want to kill a kingsnake, but if it keeps harassing the chickens that's going to be a problem.

Only suggestion I have is to secure your coop/run as best as you can. That one looks to be not full grown, since got thru the chicken wire. Also remember that in your area, these are common, and more may be around.
Snakes are beneficial because they do consume rodents.
I never kill any creatures, because all have their purpose in life/nature. I do prevent harm to my flock with securing their living area.
