Ok don't laugh too hard but is black spots in corn meal flour normal? It's not somthing I use and just bought and opened a bag to find black spots in it.

Small black specks are fine -- so long as they are not moving.

I watched a cooking show on FoodNetwork a few weeks ago and one of the guests was talking about her worst cooking was when she made cornbread one Christmas. Her hubby thought she'd sprinkled a can of poppy seeds in the cornmeal. The spots weren't poppy seeds.

Good luck with the cornbread!

To help keep cornmeal fresh and bug free, double bag it and store it in your freezer. I do that with flour too.
