I give my birds fruit and seed mixture as a treat , and the seeds are shelled already, do people give the unshelled sunflower seeds to there birds?

The BOSS I feed my girls is shelled.

Shelled or unshelled is fine.

They eat these whole? Or do they shell them? Weird, but if it's ok I will buy the shelled ones to . Thanks

Once moistened in the crop and moved on they are quickly ground up in the gizzard shell and all... We feed ours shelled BOSS as well.

Mine don't care either way... seeds are seeds and they love them. They will go out of their way tho, to pick out and nom on all the BOSS that have the black shell on them when my hubby mixes them up in the feeder.

Anyway, they will eat them shelled or not, and love them almost as much as dried/live mealworms. We just big a huge massive bag of BOSS at the feed sotre in the wild bird section...we have a combo of peanuts, BOSS, and bird seeds etc that we mix. They seem to love it plain or mixed into their hot oatmeal.
