Black Swedish duck feather color?

Here is my Sweedish - Looking Drake. And as you can see, he is brown on the belly and also the back.
He is actually a Pekin x KC.

So glad you posted this. We bought "8 ducklings" in a box at auction. I thought they might have been Muscovy, initially. Now that they're feathering out, they look like these. One even has a nice feather pouf on his head. My children named him Feather Head. Anyway, I only gave $3.25 for them, so sweet deal compared to the hatchery. How do you like having these? Good egg layers? Anyone in the frozen north keep these over winter?

Here is our black Swedish, Bumblebee. Pretty sure he's a drake. His head and some of his wing feathers are a beautiful green but some also look blue or purplish when the light hits them just right. It's impossible to get a picture to do it justice.

Iridescent colors on ducks with black feathers is normal, male or female. Cayugas, black Swedish, muscovies all will have some of the greens, blues, purples shimmer to their black feathers. Here is a pic of my black Swedish on her nest about a month ago.

Her mate is a Cayuga but another drake may have snuck in there too. There are various amounts of white on the ducklings chest, some have a small white mark on their eyes and marbled feet. I expect all of them to have iridescent colors, BTW, you will be able to tell gender fairly quickly at about 4-5 weeks. The females have A LOT to say.

Well that's the main reason I think Bumblebee is a drake. He's just much quieter than Diva.

THESE WERE MY 2 SWEDISH BLUES - THE GREY WAS MALE AND THE BLACK WAS THE FEMALE, AM CURRENTLY INCUBATING 6 OF HER EGGS SHE LEFT BEHIND FOR ME.

cnaudiffred, You have a Blue Swedish Drake and a Black Swedish Hen. That will make for some interesting color patterns! I have a Blue Swedish female that is about 5 weeks old. She is not 100%, has a black stripe on one wiing.
