I asked the exact same question on here back in early summer 2007.

It's totally normal for hatchery Buff Orps. It's just coloring within the tail feathers, not a fungus or problem.

Interesting! My BO hen only has black tips on her tail feathers. She is a nice reddish buff color farily even all around and her neck feathers SHINE! She is so pretty!
