Thanks for the link! After reading it, that makes sense with what I am seeing. Now I sit and wonder what is killing the chicks...hmmm?? I still had two more eggs in the incubator that had not pipped. I took them out and decided to crack them open. Both had what looked like fully developed birds, however they both had the greenish/blackish stuff out the end, and they were both dead.
 
I don't know how many of you have every helped to birth a litter of pups but after the pups are born and the placenta comes out, if you look at the placenta a few hours later it looks just like that. Yes, I know that is dogs and this is a chicken but I think its just the normal act of decomposition.
