Blackened edges on comb, very lethargic

She didn't make it. I gave her water with electrolytes and a little bit of Tums. She was sitting peacefully on my lap and then her breathing got difficult for her and she died. I was holding her and petting her as she died. She was a great gal. She almost appeared to be gasping at the end. I hope she didn't choke on that little bit of Tums. I did dissolve it a bit with some water. However, she was definitely not well for the last two days. It makes me sad.
What color was the discharge? Did you notice any lash eggs before she became lethargic? Can you get a necropsy? That way you'll know what her problem was. I'm sorry for your loss.

I am sorry that you lost her so suddenly. Keep her body cold overnight wrapped in 2 plastic bags in a cooler on ice or in a refrigerator. Contact your state vet in the am, and ask about getting a necropsy. They may ship you a prepaid label for Fedex or UpS overnight shipping, or you can drive the body in to them. Here is a list of state vets including TN:

That is much better to get a diagnosis. I do home necropsies on hens suspected to have reproductive disorders.

I'm so sorry 😞
