Blackstar or Black Rhoad Island Red??

they're alittle over 1 month. i dont get it tho..the for sure roos have pretty big and bright combs and pretty big spur buds..and i saw the hen and the rooster that parented them..im confused :hmm

I'm confused, too! Because I used to raise Ameraucanas and have those as well as Easter Eggers, so I'm quite familiar with that comb type. And the bumps you are seeing are not necessarily going to become spurs. Both sexes have those, even at a month old.

Pics of the rooster(s) may help.

Also, if I had to guess from the breeds you mentioned, I would say Black Sex-Link, but that comb looks.. off. It may just be the angle of the picture, but it does look like a pea comb.

Speckledhen is right though, there are no Rhode Island Blacks. Only Rhode Island Reds & Whites.

Could you get a better angle of the comb? The flash has kind of washed out the comb.

the momma had a pea comb...so i guess thats where it came from..and if i do remember right, she didnt look full blooded RIR..but the daddy did. lol

I too have Amercuanas and that is definately a pea comb.

And it looks a little older than a month old because it has all of their feathers in.

Sorry I have to say its a cross bred or a "throw back of some sort" or an accident breeding.

Definately an EE.

Wait and see what color the eggs looks like and get another pic of her when she matured a bit.

Here is a black Ameraucana cockerel at one month old. Yours is a male, IMO.
