Blanche is missing and I'm fearing the worst

Silkiechick,
Thanks for your support and suggestion. Unfortunately the reflector wouldn't work with my setup/driveway, etc. When I let my dog out for her last pee at about 10:30, I'm just going out too.

And still no sign of Blanche. Seems unlikely that she'll return at this point. With all the predators around, I suspect that she's dead.

I feel very sad for you. Its hard not knowing.
Have you tried looking for feathers, there must be a scent, can your dog smell anything? Her scent should still be there.
Try taking your dog on a lead if need be and watch for signs. This is just what I would try, I really hope you find her.

My roo was once attacked by a fox (neighbors reported to me as soon as I got home from work) and went missing. My heart in my throat I searched and searched, calling his name. Fearing the worst but hoping against hope I would find him alive. There had never been a pred attack in all the years I had chickens. After awhile I got to a spot where I thought I heard a weak response to my call and it turned out my sweet BJ was deep inside a holly tree, where he sought refuge after managing to get away from the fox. I coaxed him to me - him whimpering responses to me - he was quite weak - and carried him home where I nursed him back to health. He is fine today.
I hope fervently that you find Blanche alive.

Bantymum, Yes, I did hike around everywhere and brought the dog and a jar that I typically shake with sunflower seeds. And no sign of her or her feathers - that's the odd thing - there were no feathers or blood or anything. Someone posted that a coyote just picked up one of her hens and took it right in plain sight. Maybe that's what happened.

I searched and searched in every nook and cranny. I took the day off yesterday cause I was sooooo upset that I couldn't concentrate. So I looked again. I keep hoping that she'll just show up out of the blue. HOpe so. And with these cold nights I'm doubting that she'd make it on her own.

Thanks all. I really need to vent on this group cause no one else really understands. I'm sure they think I'm a nut.

That's a good idea with the reflector...you could use an old cd or dvd, too. We had a broody hen once who dissapeared for two months...we were astonished when she turned up again!

Gosh, im really hoping that she is found.
This is the hardest part for you.
What type of preds do you have in your area?
If she was taken, it would have been very quick for her.
Preds dont muck around, they dont want wing flapping so they do it quickly. Just pray and if she was taken her spirit is still with you.
