Blank Canvas - Needs a Coop!! What would you build here?

We've decided to rotate the birds back into a field they were in a few years ago. Their old coop is now claimed by the goats though so new construction is a must, YAY!! Below is some info about what I'd like to have but I am very interested in getting other peoples' input as far as what kind of coop THEY would build in this space.

I currently have about 12 layers but also have 8 B/B/S Wyandottes I'd like to separate for breeding in the near future.
The coop needs to be tall enough for me to go into & clean(so at least 6ft).
Dirt floor preferred.
Main predators are: Raccoons, Coyotes & plenty of Hawks that get after the babies too.
*I want to use re-purposed cedar fencing for siding & have some new metal roofing as well.


This is a picture of the area where it will be built, I chose this area for it's shade but it does get plenty of sun until late afternoon. The goats will be living in the pasture around the coop, to make things easier for me and help deter predators. The outlined area is just an idea of where it'll be, could go a little more to the right(between the trees) but don't wanna go much farther to the left.


I am open to ALL input, from coop & run down to watering systems!

I vote shed-style!! You can always use it for a shed later if you change your mind about the chickens being in that spot!

I like shed style roofs, they work well with this wet, WA weather.

I am considering putting down a row of cinder blocks around the perimeter of the house and then building on top of those, just to keep the moisture off the walls and maybe make it a little easier to put wire down on the floor? The biggest problem i've had with dirt floors so far is that the rats dig under when i have dry feed out. So, I'm thinking that chicken wire will at least keep out coons, weasels and possums?

I will have to figure out a different set up for the base of the run walls. My current coop is cedar fencing for 3ft then 3ft of wire above that. The birds stay in but the ground erodes easily around the bottom from the birds dust bathing.

I don't have running water in that area but I am hoping I can find some kind of simple hand pump set up since there's a creek about 75ft from the area.

Chicken wire won't keep out weasels. You have to have 1/2 inch hardware cloth for that, I have read.

Yes you can put a shed on cinder blocks but it does sink (that is what we have) eventually, and the shed ends up touching the ground. I put strips of hardware cloth around the shed to keep the chicks from running under it. We do have burrowing mice that just burrow around it though, but don't go into the shed.
