Today we went by the Lancaster SC TSC and spotted 2 chick that was bleeding from teh tail feathers from other chicks pecking at them. They let us have them when we pointed it out. Is there anything we can do to help them heal up?

I would put some neosporin (without any caine) or vitamin d ointment on them. Keep them clean and dry and they should be O.K.

I would try Tractor Supply. I know they carry several medications for livestock. Southern States may carry some, too, but I don't know for certain. Other farm supply stores are also a possibility. Hopefully somebody here with more experience with it will be able to add something more substantial.

get some stuff called blu-kote and put on their fuzzybutts...u should clean area gently and put the blu-kote on and it discourage any mor picking...those babies need to be kept seperate until they heal before they r introduced to ur other chickies...i've read about this on here b4...maybe try doing a search for bleeding bottoms...good luck!

Keep them a tad warmer than normal (98-100 degrees F), and maybe give them a treat of sugar water- like a chickie sports drink! Tehn, if they are REALLY bleeding use flour or cornstarch on the bleeding area to clot it. If you will be reintroducing them to other batches, use a Q-tip and dab a little blukote on the area. Good Luck!
