we recently lost two arucanas. one two days ago and the other just this morning. it appears that both bleed to death from the egg duct. is it something we have done wrong? this is how first time having arucanas. we still have one left she seems fine, no signs of blood but any help would be appreciated!

More information is needed. How old are they? Are they/were they laying? what are they eating? Any access by accident to baits? Read the sticky at the top of the index on posting. The place where the eggs come out is the same place as where the poop comes out- so bleeding from the vent could be from either tract. What are you seeing? A big pool of blood? Bloody diarrhea? Is the vent itself damaged or sticking out or look totally normal?

the birds that died are about 7 months old. they were laying fine. the first chicken to die seemed to have ruptured the egg duck. yesterday i found an egg that was covered in blood and noticed that one of the arucanas had blood on her bum but it didn't seem to still be bleeding but when i went out to take care of them this morning she was dead. before this they've been fine no sign of blood or anything wrong with them. they do not have access to anything that would be harmful to them. they are feed laying pellets daily no wet or moldy food is in their feeder. we also have 3 yr and half old barred rocks, 2 7mth old reds, 3 7mth old silver laced and 1 7mth old arucana. they all are fine. i didn't know if it has something to do with the breed we haven't had any problems like this before. Any ideas would be helpful.
