Went to put my Rouen drake in bed with his girls and he had blood all over his bill! my son wiped his nose and a clot seemed to fall off. We managed to grab him and wipe his bill off with some hydrogen peroxide. There is no sign of trauma to his bill, but both nares are red inside. He isn't bleeding any more. I called the vet on call and she said he might have shoved something up his nose or perhaps a respiratory infection? She said she could have the emergency vet meet me at the hospital tonight or bring him in in the morning. He is acting totally normal otherwise. Doesn't seem sick or lethargic. No sign of trauma anywhere else on his body.

Should I wait or just keep checking on him through the night....or go for the emergency vet....Anyone had experience with this?

Thanks for any help!

In case anyone is interested, my duck had probably got something up one of his nares, which seems to have gotten out, leaving my big with a bloody nose. What we ALSO found out though, is that his clotting functioning was delayed. Took almost 5 minutes to clot. This is likely the result of some sort of toxicity. We can't figure out what, but he is on Vitamin K injections for a month. I can't wait to get a full grown 8lb Rouen drake still to give him a shot in the breast.....ACK!
