I thoroughly checked, there doesn't appear to be any damage to the beak or the facial flesh. I did dunk his head to help clean him up, he is also alert and walking.

The best way i can describe it is a nosebleed(nare? bleed) yes, i know what caused it, the drakes were fighting again this morning. I have let him back out after my physical exam, is there anything i should watch for? he's huffing/hissing as normal back with his girl...

needless to say i will keep an eye on him but other than way more blood than i care to see he seems normal.

My sanity however is now a negative zero!!

Is he still bleeding GQ? hopefully some good heading ducking will clean it up, I tell you them drakes can get the best of us, I had to seaprate 2 of mine this morning, I would have let them work it out but one of them was my 9yr old and he is feeble now and doesn't need to be doing this, sad part is he starts it. Hope your guy is okay now.

I don't think so?(it wasn't when i left) He was a bear to catch, i am watching last i checked he's moving around and from a distance seems normal. He's friendly but typical don't confine me type and i needn't tell you how hard it is to hold a BIG drake.

It was scary, i actually thought nothing of their fight, ya'know? a few scratches and so forth is all we get but when i went to check and saw all the blood i was freaking out! it was everywhere, of coarse a white duck doesn't help hide it.

I am not sure what to do, my husband thinks i should get rid of the black drake but he's my only breeder... the white guy is a pet and is only a hatchery bird. Not that i intend to breed but you know how that goes lol plus i want at least an option, hatching my own is way easier than buying from others.

I know i have at least two drakes in this new hatch, one is another blue, at least it's looking that way with the wee bit of feathering BUT who's to say if i get rid of dad, babies won't grow up to be trouble in another year or so plus there related to birds here then, not that black drake isn't now too but only one duck of his remained so ... ugh rambling sorry!

Big decisions, I have to seaprate mine at times, especially my old guy, Ugh drakes can be so sweet but so hateful to one another. I hope he is doing well and just got a cut or scratch seems around the face theres always alot of bleeding.

Protect the injured drake, consider some apple cider vinegar in the water. It could be unrelated - perhaps a sign of very dry sinuses, or an infection.

Thank you. Nah, it really is the fight he was A-ok this moring, but well 'scovie drakes are something else when fighting... you can hear the wings clapping like sticks together. he's been out foraging and all seems well, i will thoroughly check it more at bedtime as he is left in the main part of the barn with all the girls lol

That would be difficult with your older guy, these ones aren't that far apart, but the black drake is more dominate, spot is just not a fighter. I wish i'd broke the fight up, just well you know how it is usually it's ends with a lot of feathers but no real injury.

It was his nares, there is no flesh wound, nor beak wound. I guess he got knocked down hard and that caused the nose bleed he's been acting normal for the rest of the day however, i will as i said to Amiga will check really well again as i have help then too.

I always keep them separate at night, as BD is a pain and harasses him and all the girls at night but during the daytime with acres there should be some ability to get along.

Clearly message not received by them.

Sorry for the problems GQ. I have no experience with it myself. Actually I've never had more than 1 drake at a time for very long. I hope all is well.

Thanks, not sure i can say i do either! this was a new one, hopefully we won't again! I would prefer one myself BUT spot is a pet, really kind, guy and BD gets the job done if you know what i mean.
