I just found my GL Polish rooster bleeding heavily from the mouth--he began to gasp and flop uncontrollably around and then he died --does any body have any ideas?????

There was no evidence of external injuries such as from a fight with another animal. No other symptoms--he was fine this morning.

How sad, I'm so sorry for you. Certainly some kind of hemorrhage, but I'm clueless re the cause. Maybe someone else will have a suggestion, but i would for sure keep an eye on your other birds for signs of listlessness, lethargy, anything unusual.

Could have been a heart problem or poison or several other things.Unless you open him up to see, it would be hard to say. I had a pullet at point of lay who died with blood coming from her mouth. Opened her up and her heart had basically exploded. It's very sad to find one like that. The day before, her heart was racing and we knew something was wrong. Apparently, she had a heart defect.

Thank you everyone--I thought about something sharp or something exploding inside of him. He flopped and did a backflip before he died--it was very violent. There was no poison around and he was so passive--I doubt any of the other roos started anything. He was off on his own--I just found him bleeding....
