I am concerned with my poor little dumpling, every now & then I find blood all over his legs & around his spurs, & sometimes he will pull those big feathers out of his legs & make them bleed too. (Being a total wuss that I am, I get horrified, rush him into the bathroom & doctor the wounds, put neosporin on them & bandage them, then kiss them) I am wondering why he does this. I know it hurts him. I checked all his towels, his stuffed duck, his basket & pillows & there is nothing I could find that would snag his feathers. When he absolutely wants to move he uses his wings for balance, not his useless llegs. What could be causing this?

I would suspect that scaley leg mites could be irritating his legs resulting in him pulling out the feathers. You can use regular flour to help stop the bleeding. You can use vaseline on his legs to smother the scaley leg mites if that's what it is. I would also check the bottom of his feet for bumblefoot. One other possibility would be a nutritional problem...you can increase his protein intake with srambled egg mixed in his feed and add poultry nutri drench to his water for about one week, then stop the nutri drench. Hopefully this will help.
