We need some help please. We have 8 Golden Comet hens and a rooster all of which are 10 weeks old. Our spacious coop is in the corner of our barn, with outside access that we are still working on.
Here is our problem. We've had the chickens for about 2 weeks and initially we noticed some feather loss on a couple of the hens, on their back just above the tails. I saw that there was some pecking going on and assumed this was the cause. One hen in particular who is also the smallest seemed to have the brunt of the feather loss.
I've been keeping a close eye on them, and today when I went out to feed and clean the coop I noticed some blood on the small hens right wing. I think because it was so fresh, it had just happened. Then I saw that they were all pecking at the blood. My wife and I have segregated her, and need advice on what our next move should be.
Thanks, any advice will be very appreciated. Like how and when to reintegrate her, what to put on the wound etc??

Blu-Kote the wound put her back in. Chickens heal fast. The feather damage on the backs of the hens was probably caused be the rooster mating. He may also have caused the initial wound to the hen, then the others saw the blood and went after it. It sound like she is the lowest on the pecking order and the roosters favorite, bad combination. I would watch for more trouble there.
