Bleeding won't stop, please help!

My polish roo some how tore his wattle in half. My husband and I flushed it and cut it the rest of the way off. I applied blood stop and it stopped it in places but there is still one spot that won't stop and it just pours out when I take off pressure. I tried neosporin after the blood stop didn't work, then I applied pressure off and on for over an hour. My husband went online and someone suggested super glue so I tried that. It seems to be working a little, but the blood just seeps under the glue and up thru where the glue ends. I have in a small dog house w/ food and water, but he keeps shaking his head and I have a feeling the glue will fail at any moment. I don't know what else to do. I don't feel like I am able to burn the wound closed with anything hot enough. Wish I had a soddering iron. Any other suggestions??? Please help! He has lost quite a bit of blood.

Update:glue failed. applying pressure now...waiting for a response.

Sounds like your doing a good job, some places sell powder to stop bleeding for people, don't know if that would help. Good luck, and hope someone else who knows more on the subject sees this!

Someone on her got a spoon really hot and cauterized a wound that way.

I thought about heating something up but I figure it has to be real hot otherwise it will just burn and make matters worse. I applied pressure w/ cream of tartar for about 10min and put him out on the deck. It is real windy, hoping that it will help it dry.

Vitamin K tablets will thicken the blood. I give my fowl one tablet 1/2 hour before dubbing. Also, common baking flour is as good as any blood stop product. I apply a feather to the wound and then coat it with flour. Bleeding like that is a real nuisance. Hope ya get it stopped........Pop

The cream of tartar and cool breeze ended up doing the trick. He was out on the deck crowing his punk rocker crow all afternoon, so I think he is feeling better as well. I have him in his own private suite tonight (and probably for the next week), away from his ladies so that he can heal. I think I will give him a penicillin shot tomorrow to keep down any chanced of infection. I had put ointment on it during the whole catastrophe but I think I will wait until I know it is a sealed up before I start the antibiotic ointment topically. What a nightmare! There was blood everywhere. If someone had come over I think they would have been looking for a body. lol Happy Thanksgiving Y'all and thank you for the help and support.

Thank you for your replies to this thread. I had a rooster with bleeding wattles at bedtime check, daughter thinks the two roosters were fighting. When I put No-Pick lotion on it the wattles started gushing blood and wouldn't stop. I had some cream of tartar and we applied that and the bleeding stopped. I was worried that cream of tartar might be toxic to chickens or something so I was glad to see someone else used it and it worked. Thank you!
