This Muscovy Hen of mine is worth her weight in gold. She's been a super Mom when ever she's hatched babies out, and she's hatched 4 times already. She's 2 yrs old and she's my lap duck LOL When her eggs quit developing she tossed them out of the nest then decided to adopt the 8 week old ducklings that I have in the pen. Yesterday she brought them out of the pen for 15 minutes then promptly barked at them to get back in it ...today is cold and windy and she's got them all in the duck house taking a nap right now, I couldn't resist snapping a photo. I love this duck so much!

That is Bleenie in the forefront of the photo..it just tickles me because the babies are about as big as her and she treats them like they're itty bitty babies LOL

Oh what a nice momma. And babies that are as big as her. Good for her for adopting. ;)

Nice looking ducklings too. I want to get my hands on some white or french production muscovy.

They are beautiful Michelle, so sweet of her to adopt these ducklings, evidentally she see's them as being itty bitty probably something to do with her broodiness and wanting to be a mommie, do they mind?

They don't seem to mind a bit, in fact it seems that they're enjoying her attention. These ducklings are out of one of Bleenie's babies from last feb. and the Drake that produced Bleenie 2 yrs ago. She's mamma to her grandkids ;-) I'm wondering how long it will be before she decides they're allowed to go to the pond with her. Right now when she wants to go for a quick swim/bath she barks at them til they go into the duck house then she flies to the pond for 10 minutes and flies right back to the pen. When she flies back in the babies start dancing around and singing to her...melts my heart. You'd think they'd all been together from the start.

jdwyntr, I'm not sure what French Production Muscovys are but I do love the white too. I have one white hen who was pure white until her latest molt (she just turned a yr old), she is now mostly white with what looks like lavender on her wings, tail and chest.
